A REAL vintage 1951 petite bouche Selmer (#863) in AMAZING condition. Has some light wear, scratches, and a few dings but overall is in better shape then guitars a quarter of it's age. I've never seen such a pristine example! And it has the very, very rare original Selmer Pegamoid case. Even has the original key for the lock! They don't come any better than this.... This is one of the rare late models with a solid rosewood neck.
The Selmer log book shows that this guitar was sold to Spomagelle on February 28th, 1951. The first owner sold it in the 50s to the second owner who was a part time musette guitarist in Paris. He played it his whole life, mostly on the weekends, which explains this guitar's exceptional condition! Playability is stupendous...sounds amazing with low 2.5mm action and light gauge strings. An amazing feat for a guitar this old. And the sound, oh the sound! Spot on traditional Selmer sound with sparkly highs, fat mids, and a beautiful complexity that is like no other.
This guitar was studied extensively by the renowned Portland luthier Bob Holo. This Selmer served as a basis for his own amazing Selmer style guitars.
