The Swiss-made Schertler David Acoustic Instrument Amplifier delivers amazing amplified reproduction of your acoustic instrument. The David features two Input Channels, each with switchable Gain Control, allow connection of a wide variety of instruments and microphones. Switchable Phantom Power (48v on the MIcrophone/Instrument Channel, 10v on the Instrument/Line Channel) and a wide array of EQ Controls (Including Resonance to fine-tune low frequencies and Warm to smooth out harsh piezo pickups) provide unparalled flexibility of use. An Insert allows the connection of an outboard signal processor, while the built-in Analog Spring Reverb adds depth and richness. Reverb may be individually mixed on each Channel. David is bi-amplified for maximum amplifier efficiency, with 60 watts driving the 6" woofer and 40 watts driving the tweeter. Three Outputs allow David to be used as a stage monitor while sending a signal to the Mixer or Recorder, as well as the connection of additional powered speaker cabinets. The tuned, ported cabinet delivers stunning projection, warm, smooth trebles, clear mids, and powerful bass response in a small package. David, the "Little Giant Killer" from Schertler.

Nice Acoustic Amp!

By: Dave on 04/08/2012 09:20:16 AM

Pros: Great sound , easy to carry, and affordable

Cons: none

I perform (solo guitar, I use both nylon and acoustic guitars) twice a week in a large Brazilian Restaurant (seats 400 people, including a main floor and mezannine). My goal is to provide ambient background music, and just enough volume for those so inclined, for listening enjoyment. For the audience I use the Bose L1 compact , I've found in this large room that it gives the best wide angle dispersion of sound compared to anything else I've personally found in the market (the larger Bose sounds even better, but the compact works fine and is lighter). As good as I think the Bose is for that task, I've found I really like the David Schertler Classic. I have the Bose situated for optimum sound for the audience, I use more reverb out of the Bose...I have the Schertler on a speaker tripod elevated and placed by me so that it can cover some of the room as well, but its largest responsibility is for me to hear. I feed the aux signal from the Bose sound engine(dry) to the David....I add less reverb on stage, using the David spring reverb....I love the clean, transparent sound I get on stage, with the ability to place the amp at the perfect height, with the dryer sound...I feel totally connected with my instrument and the sound. I bought this David amp to have a nice amp I can use in my studio easily without messing with setting up my Bose. This amp will be great in rehearsals, and smaller venues as well. If I had to own just one system...I would actually get recommend a Bose first as it acts both as an amp and a PA and so is more versatile, but, as big a Bose fan as I am...I actually think the Schertler has an even better overall sound (ie...I think any guitar played through this will sound as good as possible with whatever guitar/pick-up system is used for input), its perfect for what I need it for!
